A great season for the AL9 team was capped off on the Friday night of 2 October 2020, with a victory over Beacon Hill A in the 1 vs 2 FINAL at Beacon Hill Oval.
Having a full team of 16 players for only the second time all season, the BTH Raiders came out firing in the final. Oskar Jaggers scored the first three goals of the game to reach a season total of 16. These goals were of the highest quality and left the Beacon Hill keeper shaking his head; And this was before Oliver O'Donoghue added the fourth goal through a brilliant free kick taken from just outside the box into the top corner. Trailing 4-0 at half time Beacon Hill fought back in the second half with a counter attacking goal and penalty, however BTH hung on for a 4-2 final score. It was an amazing game to watch and was played in front of a high energy supportive BTH crowd.
The team over came several season ending injuries including a broken collar bone in just round 4 to finish the year with just two losses. Despite the turbulent year, the players had a commitment to training and showed considerable improvement over the course of the season. It was particularly pleasing for the team to score 45 goals in just 15 games featuring 12 different goal scorers from the 21 player squad. We look forward to the new challenge next season and picking up where we left off.
Thankyou to everyone who supported us this year and see you again in 2021.
