New MWFA Coach Workshops Available


MWFA is pleased to confirm dates, topics and locations for six in-season Coach Workshops to be made available across July, August and September, with even more to be confirmed in the coming weeks at various clubs.


These coach education opportunities aim to provide ongoing guidance and advice throughout the season, and to compliment official FFA coaching courses, with topics based on feedback received on what coaches would find valuable, and also taking into account feedback received about hosting more of these workshops at clubs instead of just at Cromer Park.

TIME: 7pm to 9pm

TOPIC: Match Day Coaching: - Warm ups, coaching, and sub management - Formations and set pieces - Engaging parents and managing staff

LOCATION: Cromer Park (Pitch 2)

DATE: Thursday 23 July

TIME: 6pm to 7:30pm

TOPIC: More Effective Training: - Working with limited space - Keeping players engaged - Teaching core skills

LOCATION: Lionel Watts Reserve (Wakehurst)

DATE: Tuesday 28 July

TIME: 7pm to 9pm

TOPIC: Training with Intensity:

- Football based injury prevention - Developing fitness through football - Managing player focus and effort

LOCATION: Melwood Oval (Forest Killarney)

DATE: Thursday 6 August

TIME: 6:30pm to 8:30pm

TOPIC: More Effective Training:

- Working with limited space - Keeping players engaged - Teaching core skills

LOCATION: Seaforth Oval (Seaforth)

DATE: Monday 17 August

TIME: 7pm to 9pm

TOPIC: Maximising Teamwork / Understanding: - Efficient training structure - Formations and set pieces - Managing training intensity

LOCATION: Cromer Park (Pitch 2)

DATE: Monday 7 September

TIME: 7pm to 9pm

TOPIC: Involving / Including Goalkeepers: - Managing goalkeepers in a full squad - MiniRoos goalkeeper development - Goalkeeper specific skill tips

LOCATION: Cromer Park (Pitch 2)

The Coach Workshops are completely FREE, but registration is required.

Coaches can attend any and all of these workshops if they wish to, even if they are not a member of the club hosting them.


Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes early to sign in so the workshops can start and finish on time.


It would be appreciate if all participants can bring football boots (ideally) or runners, and appropriate clothing to play football in, just in case they are needed as players on the night.
